Food

Here's a recipe for muesli that I think you might like. I will write it and then tell you about my suggested changes.

Apple Walnut Muesli
1 1/2 c. oats
1/2c. oat bran
2 c. milk
2 lg. apples, grated
1/2 c. raisins
2 T honey
1 T lemon juice
2 t. vanilla
1/2 t. cinnamon
Mix all. Cover and fridge overnight. In the morning add:
1/2 c sunflower seeds
1/3 c. wheat germ
1/4 c. walnuts, chopped

This made A LOT! I would cut it in 1/4 for dad and I. I did make it for Fri morning and we did eat some more on Mon. but I had to toss some out.
Good that it is make ahead so breakfasts are easy.
Seemed too sweet.
I add a lot more fun stuff in the morning, either healthy or fresh fruit, etc.
Think maybe I will add the dry stuff (entire recipe) and just keep and put a little in a bowl and add the milk (buttermilk is my favorite here) for any time that I want to have it the next morning.

Now I will try to get a photo on this site. Wish me well.

  1. Were you able to do a photo? This sounds good. We'll try it. We like muesli with buttermilk. Jon made up a muesli a few weeks ago, but it was just using dry ingredients like oats and sunflower seeds. Haven't tried the fresh add ins. Yum!
